My Little Black Summer Dress

The St. Elizabeth's House was once an asylum and then it was owned by author Anne Rice and now it has been refurbished into GORGEOUS apartments in a very beautiful part of nola. There is, however, a little rumor that the building (or area around it) is haunted O_o

Yesterday, I decided to go for a simple black vest dress. It was a hot, extremely humid day and for some weird reason i was in that black-dress-wearing mood. Of course i didn't bring any of my black dresses with me to nola except this which I usually wear under a longer sheer maxi dress. In an extremely minimalistic fashion i opted to go all black with little embellishment - just the gold chain and bag. Sometimes, less is more, yes? yes! :)

That bag, i saw in a boutique on magazine street for $20 :o . I was bouncing off the walls! I'm sure the sales person  thought i was crazy. It reminds me a lot of the classic Chanel flap bag. Of course, nothing beats Chanel but for that price... :) it won my heart

Happy Sunday!

Have a wonderful week lovelies :)

Feel the Rainbow

I love New Orleans, i really do, but the humidity does NOT do well with my hair. I spent the entire night before straightening my hair...it was bone straight and soft and silky and just...nice! Then I step out of my apartment and it starts, slowly, to frizz up and then by the time i get home I have an afro
-___- So not cool! So please excuse the hair lol. Fortunately I have found some anti frizz hair moisturizer that does wonders. My hair even stays straight at work....and that says a lot.

That weekend was a nice release because work has been such a challenge. Im using MATLAB again and I have to learn how to use a simulation software which is actually kinda fun, otherwise everything is great :)

Anyhu, these were taken as the sun was rising. It was breathtaking :)

Tribal Much?

Hello, hello! I am back from the dead. Once again, I have to apologize for my absence it was more difficult (well...awkward) asking people I barely knew to take pictures of me for a blog so it took a little more time than anticipated. But I'm back and it's good now. Bad news is for the last week or so my laptop has been sick :( She's at Apple right now and hopefully she will be home with me soon. It's so wrong how my life has changed so much because I don't have a laptop. I depend on it way too much!

Jumpsuits are my new favorite thing and when I saw that printed one I couldnt help myself. It was a littl breezy that day so i put on a really light blazer i got at zara last summer. It was just for a nice lunch with le friends :) I decided to wear it with the neon yellow clutch and beaded statement necklace just to add a little oomph.

Anyway, here are some things you should be expecting this week:
Surprise male feature
another surprise post dedicated to something a good friend of mine is doing (super proud of her)
and more ME :)

HAPPY MONDAYYY!!!

Soulful, Beautiful, Happy Days

This weekend was one of those couch potato type weekends. Aside from a little adventure last night I spent most of my time plopped on my sofa with my reese's peanut butter cups in one hand and my fruit loops in the other as I watched Law & Order SVU (it has to be SVU, regular Law&Order isn't as cool lol). We did go out last night and it was a lot of fun but truth is all I wanted to do was catch up on lost sleep. I'm already counting days till Friday.

It's Leonieee :) She wore this on one of those rare, warm spring days in Boston. It is a very casual, everyday look but you can always glam it up with accessories. Pilazzo pants are still in this season especially printed ones.

She wears:

Top: Charlotte Russe
Pants: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: H by Halston via Bakers
Bag: Aldo
Neck Cuff: Urban Outfitters
Rings: H&M

I wish I didn't have to say it but HAPPY MONDAYYY! :)

Trends On a Budget

Hey all,
So I've decided to have at least one post every month dedicated to cheaper alternatives to trending designer items. This season the neon CL Pigalle Pump has been a hot item on blogs everywhere. I think aside from leopard print and leather, I have a new thing neon yellow :)

Christian Louboutin - $625
 PARALLEL UNIVERSE
To my lovelies on a budget, here I have two pretty good alternatives to the CL pump. The first is from ShoeMint and is available in a variety of colors from nude to pastels to neon pink and yellow. ShoeMint is collaboration among Steve Madden, Rachel Bilson and Stylist, Nicole Chavez and is a site much like Shoe Dazzle and Sole Society. The second option is from Zara, a block heel sandal you can wear with anything. Unfortunately, I think the zara heel is sold out :( but at least you get a good idea of what's out there :)
ShoeMint (Kaylen) - $79.98
Zara - $70

TGIF!

Leonie and a surprise male guest are to feature next week so keep an eye out :)

Elie Saab F/W 2012-2013

Elie Saab is by far my favorite haute couture gown designer. Of course, he wins a lot of points with me by being lebanese but it's his dresses that win me over completely - they strike the right balance of sex and sophistication. He is best know for the burgundy dress Halle Berry wore to the 2002 Oscars and from there became a huge hit in the fashion world and on red carpets everywhere.

I saw his latest runway haute couture collection and i couldn't help but share this with you. I love how he uses different textures to create such beautiful works of art.....oh, the things I would to wear one of these.

Anyway, I'm off to a bbq and then fireworks by the lake! Happy July 4th!!!! :)
