My Life in Red

Those who know me well, know I LOVE Red Lipstick! I have a bunch of different shades and textures and brands. Here are my four favorite with the exception of MAC Ruby Woo, which I cannot find :( :( :( :(. When I do find I promise I will up a picture of me with it one. It is my favorite of the favorite and I cannot live without it.

I prefer the darker shades of red to the brighter one because, in my opinion, its a little more edgy/sophisticated/mysterious lol. The brighter shades (the last two) are very Spring-y/Summer-y while the darker shades are more for Fall and Winter but I wear the dark shades all-year round :)

Which one do you prefer?

By the way, its gonna snow today...:( and rain tomorrow! Did I ever mention I hate New England weather.

INSPIRATION: The Mob Wives

My very own secret (not any more) guilty pleasure -the mob wives. I first watched the show during winter break and since then I've been hooked. Who knew so much drama could be sooo addictive and funny and interesting....and funny! lol Those women scare me a little but then again I admire them. Behind all the drama and crime, they are strong women who know what they want and go for it without fear (of each other lol)

As I watched the opening I thought, "DAMN! These women have swag!." The fur coats, the heels, the hair, the colors (or lack thereof), the bling...everything about them in the opening! As fashion is an art, i took this as inspiration for one of my next looks. It may not be posted this week but next week it should be live! Here's what I've put together so far. What do you think?

Keep reading or you might miss out on the complete look! :)

Subtly Colorful Sunsets

When the hair tie broke lol

Bonjour! Bonjour! Today, I am sooo sooo happy and I have no clue why! lol I've been all smiles for the last week or so and I really can't say that theres been a reason. Hey! Who am I to complain! lol
It's just interesting how I have a cold and a 10-page paper to write for my Anthropology class (which, by the way, I haven't started yet) and I'm still all smiles and zero panic. I guess I just woke up on the right side of bed today (and for last 8 days)!

Anyway, as you all can tell I am wearing my new babies (the nude booties) with my outfit. :) I was so excited when I got them I just had to wear them with one of my looks this week. I decided to tie my hair up for this particular look but then the hair tie broke and I didn't have extras so I had to let my hair down. It was kinda funny! We worked through it though and now i present to you two different looks - hair up and hair down. Take your pick! haha

I am wearing my booties with a shirt from H&M and a maxi skirt. H&M has a way of surprising me a lot - this season (and the last) they seem to have very unique ( and on-trend) pieces, like the shirt I'm wearing. I was just drawn to it and it fits in perfectly with the trends this Spring. You all should make a trip there and patiently scour through the store, I guarantee you will find something that will make you go "Wow!" :) ANDDD Marni for H&M is coming soon! So keeps your eyes and ears out :)

Right now, I need to concentrate on the blank page which is soon to be a complete 10-page paper :). Wish me luck!

Au Revoir Mes Amis!

Night To Day

Pictures were all taken in one of the dorms on campus :)

H&M has a way of surprising me  :)

I know you may not be able to tell because of poor lighting but its neon pink and not orange

First of all, I would like to apologize for the horrendous lighting in the pictures! This was taken on Saturday and it was impossible to do any shoots in natural light - which would have been perfect for this - because of the weather but we worked with what we had! I decided to do most of my shoots on one day because I'm a student and unfortunately I have papers due and quizzes this week :/ :/ :/ you gotta do what you gotta do, right?

One of the trends last season was the silky pant which resembles pajama bottoms and even a complete pajama look (by this I mean, with the pajama top)! It seems to be carrying on to this season too which makes sense because Spring has the perfect weather to wear them. I completed my look with a black sweater, black booties and a black faux fur clutch. I also decided to wear my hair up for a more laid-back look to complement the pants, also, to draw attention to that amazing necklace. I would totally wear this to class. In fact, tomorrow I will do just that :)

I hope you like what I did with the pants. I was torn between pairing them with a white sweater as opposed to the black one, however, the black seemed more interesting whereas the white one was a little safe. Either way they both looked good, so you can try it out! :)

OK....I'm gonna get back to studying now :(

The New Addition...

Everybody, say hello to my new pair of heels! As soon as I saw this baby I knew she was the one for me lol.

I've been looking everywhere for a nice pair of nude booties and finally I found THE ONE at Zara. This will be the perfect transition heel from Winter to Spring and knowing New England weather I'm gonna need booties until May. It's moments like these I wish I were back home in Ghana where its warm all year round *sigh*

The weekend is almost over and it's almost time to start preparing for the new week. Don't you just hate Sunday nights ugh! But as they say, its not over until it's over! :p :)

Live it up until midnight! :)

Skylines & Rooftops

At the penthouse on campus :)

Leonie, me and Faith - a few of my closest friends not to mention they have amazing style

My Celestrium MIT brass rat! =)

Massachusetts Avenue Bridge in the backgroud. It connects Cambridge to Boston

Sooooooo....today was the day of the photo shoot for some of the upcoming posts AND it didn't really go too well. It was cloudy and EXTREMELY windy not to mention it was cold as hell! I don't know why I thought getting ready for spring posts in New England was gonna be easy! *sigh* but I got some done and I will try to do the rest some time this week. If not....I'll figure it out

Anyway, this picture was taken in the Fall of last year (again on the MIT campus --> gorgeous, isn't it?) with two of my closest friends! The three of us had planned on starting a blog together to showcase our individual style but we all got busy and it didn't happen. You might see them occasionally being featured on my blog though :).

I hope your weekend is going well? :) Live it up!

Yours truly,

Marcie

Sparkles make the world go round...

Sparkles  DO make the world go round...in my little bubble! Today I wanted to share with you my obsession with bling and sparkle. It is my dream to one day buy Cartier and Tiffany out lol....when I make billions and billions of dollars of course :) *finger crossed*

One thing I have learned at MIT is that anything is possible if you are willing to put in the all the necessary work. Nothing good comes easy! Remember that!

I am wearing my favorite diamond studs. They aren't real diamonds - I actually got them from Aldo last year - but when I wear them I feel like a million dollars. They have become almost a staple in my closet. i wear them EVERYWHERE lol I am also wearing a silver metallic sweater from H&M which I thought was coolest thing ever. This season they have the same sweater but in different metallic shade. I'm sure by now you can tell I have thing for leopard print and bright lights lol. I tend to gravitate toward light (as Tyra always says, light is a models best friend) but I will try not to over-do it in the next posts.

Oh and tomorrow is my shoot for more postssss! How exciting! Stay tuned and I hope so far you are enjoying what I have to offer =)

Yours truly,

Marcie

Casual Thursdays

Killian Court on the MIT Campus which is absolutely breathtaking in the Spring. I cannot wait to have a few photo shoots there!

Those heels are by far my favorite (thus far). I love that thin gold pencil heel and of course the leopard print

Again, these pictures were taken in the Fall of last year but I thought they were worth posting. This could still make a pretty good Spring outfit for a day out with the girls! Denim shirts, in my opinion, are  (or should be) a staple in every one's closet. They are certainly my go-to on days I am way too tired to think - and trust me, at MIT, there are many of those days.

I remember this was the first day of a four-day weekend and we were all pretty excited! I think I must had like 3 exams (quizzes) that week and I was a soooo tired, I couldn't wake up on time for the shoot.

Anyway, HAPPY THURSDAY

Yours Truly,

Marcie

Morning Glory

You may be wondering why on earth I'm standing on a table....truth is, I don't know lol.
I know you can't really see the outfit but I thought the light and shadows were too pretty not to share. I promise my next posts will have the outfits in full view. No more distractions! Again this picture was taken on the MIT campus in one of the classrooms! I DO NOT wear heels to class but that day I was feeling...grown lol :)

The pictures without the shadows :)

There's a first time for everything....

There's a first time for everything! My very first post! I'm so excited!
I've been planning this for the past six months - by myself and with a group of my close friends. Maybe after sometime they might join in on this. This picture was taken early Fall of last year on the MIT campus (Isn't it gorgeous) but never posted because school was keeping us way too busy to think of blogging. Now, i have time on my hands and I think I can balance it all...wish me luck! *fingers crossed*
